Jesus of Nazareth is crucified in Jerusalem by the Roman authorities around Passover, most likely in AD 30 or 33, under the prefect Pontius Pilate. At this point in the timeline (c. 30), the Bishop of Rome was Saint Peter (c. 30 – c. 64). Dates for the earliest bishops of Rome are traditional and uncertain.
