# Council of Constance (1414)

The council ends the Western Schism and elects Martin V in 1417. At this point in the timeline (1414), the Bishop of Rome was Pope Gregory XII (30 November 1406 – 4 July 1415). His claim was contested by Antipope Benedict XIII, Antipope John XXIII.
