Location: China
Themes: Politics

The founding of the Ming dynasty drives the Mongol Yuan court out of China. The Church of the East communities and the Franciscan mission, which depended on Mongol patronage, soon disappear. At this point in the timeline (1368), the Bishop of Rome was Pope Urban V (28 September 1362 – 19 December 1370).

## Why it matters
It ended the second era of Christianity in China; the faith would return only with the Jesuits two centuries later.
